Energy and sustainability
NOMIP offers sustainable energy from Tunna power plant to the business sector, hence fostering economic growth and a circular economy in Tynset.
Our energy solution - local and fair
Access to reliable and affordable green energy is crucial for any business site. At NOMIP, our entrepreneurs receive energy straight from the source - Tunna power plant. This facility not only supplies energy but also sets the standard for a sustainable future, supporting growth and progress in Tynset.
Energy recycling - A circular emphasis
In line with our vision of creating an energy cluster, NOMIP emphasizes utilizing energy in a manner that enhances both the industrial site and the local community. An example of this is the repurposing of hot water from a production process to heat adjacent buildings, reinforcing our belief in a circular economy and resource utilization.
The benefits of sustainable energy solutions
Alongside the environmental benefits, we offer clean, locally produced energy to the businesses on the industrial site.
This is possible because the power production and the new industrial area are being planned together, and we make use of "Surplus Production Sharing Model," a new regulation which came into effect on October 1, 2023, where it's possible to share up to 1 MW of locally produced energy within the same cadastral unit number.
The various businesses that establish themselves on the industrial site will then have the opportunity participate in this scheme and can utilize up to 1 MW from the Tunna power plant, which we are establishing right next to the industrial area. Of course, the industrial area is connected to the electrical grid, as the power plant is dependent on the water flow in the river and the production will vary throughout the year.
We are also working on the establishment of solar panels on roofs and facades, which will also be included in the sharing scheme.
The government is also working on a separate regulation for industrial areas where the limit will be 5 MW for internal sharing. Such a scheme would mean that we can expand with more solar panel capacity, which will also be included in the sharing scheme.
