The municipal council of Tynset Municipality has resolved to grant Nord-Østerdal Miljøpark AS permission to construct and operate Tunna plant on the Tunna river, located within Tynset Municipality in Innlandet. The decision is based on an dated June 9, 2023.
The council justifies the decision with the belief that the construction will predominantly benefit the community. The advantages are primarily associated with the production of locally generated power and the development of the industrial area, Nord-Østerdal Miljøpark, which is expected to have positive local ripple effects.
The permission is granted under the authority of the Water Resources Act (vannressursloven) §§ 8 and 64. The watercourse concession grants Nord-Østerdal Miljøpark AS the right to construct and operate the Tunna power plant under the following terms.
Jon Olav Volden, spokesperson for Nord-Østerdal Miljøpark AS, expresses great satisfaction with the decision. “We are very pleased with the swift and efficient processing we have experienced in both the administrative and political systems in Tynset,” says Volden. “This decision is a significant step towards realizing the Nord-Østerdal Miljøpark industrial area where we rely on the use of self-produced, renewable energy.”
The decision reflects the proactive stance of Tynset Municipality in supporting sustainable development and local business, while important environmental considerations are preserved.
